Course Overview

Dates: July 5-7th, 3-5pm
Trainer: Dwight Dunston

In this course, specifically designed for BIPOC participants, we will use Tema Okun and Kenneth Jones' article “White Supremacy Culture” to anchor our exploration of how traits of WSC show up in our lives, relationships, and the communities we are a part of. Using the tools, skills, and techniques of racial literacy, we will strengthen our ability to notice and intervene when aspects of WSC arise, and pivot towards more authentic and transformative ways of relating to one another and ourselves.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and intervene on aspects of white supremacy culture that show up professionally/organizationally/personally

  • Begin to use the tool of racial literacy to practice self-care and reduce racial stress when confronted with aspects of white supremacy culture

  • Envision and articulate different ways of being in relationships beyond features of white supremacy culture.
